"Who hasn't been disappointed to hold a bouquet of roses up to their nose and not detect a single fragrance? Why do florists' roses have so little scent? Why not include fragrant roses in bouquets? For several years now, breeders have been trying to restore fragrance to rose varieties intended for the cut flower market. Why is this so difficult? Biologists are beginning to understand the reasons for these difficulties. Jean-Claude Caissard, a professor at the University of Saint-Étienne, will reveal the initial clues and suggest a new way of bringing fragrance back to our bouquets.."
